Fourth Roundtable Discussion - European Commission
It was our pleasure for Beth Havinga to represent the EEA in Brussels this week by invitation of the European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel for the next Edtech Roundtable.
The key success factors for the sustainable expansion and growth of edtech were discussed with an open exchange about financing difficulties. The EEA suggested five clear structures that need to be in place to ensure sustainable innovation:
Common or clear definitions (e.g. how edtech providers, education institutions and educators can interact and support each other)
A supported balance between mature and agile innovation stakeholders
Fundamental respect for the strengths of each stakeholder group (especially in the development of new systems or purchasing of services)
Transparency
The development of dedicated spaces to test (products, policy strategies, teaching and development methodologies)
Expanding our network
The EEA is happy to be invited to the Digital Transformation Collaborative (DTC) and the Broadband Commission´s Data for Learning.
The DTC is a small and invite-only community committed to cooperatively developing long-term, synergistic partnerships with countries to improve lives through digital technology in education and is centred on mobilizing resources (in-kind, financial, domestic commitments) for country-level actions and impact.
