Welcome to the EEA roundup of the activities, which took place in the last month.
In October, we were excited to represent the EdTech sector at UNESCO’s expert meeting on the learning sciences. This meeting aimed to define missing links between the learning sciences and education policies and practices as well as identifying better ways for the ecosystem to work together to define new processes to enhance learning outcomes and develop models of teaching and learning.
This past month has been a big one for AI regulations. Building on the Council of Europe’s announcement last month around the development of a legal instrument to govern AI use in education, we now saw the G7 countries agreeing on a voluntary Code of Conduct and common guiding principles, the USA desiring to lead the charge of AI regulation with their executive order on AI and the UK AI Safety Summit bringing high-level policy and start power to debate global steps forward. It will be important for those developing and using AI to understand what these decisions mean for their own practice. It was our pleasure then to contribute to the work of Teach AI in their development of an AI guidance toolkit by ensuring international applicability for implementation in your own local environments.
Lastly, we would like to congratulate our EEA members who have been voted into board positions within the Alliance for the next two years.
